Already working at least 4/5? Discover flexi-jobs by sector.
A flexi-job is a flexible side job alongside another job. You pay no employee social security contributions on your flexi wage and, up to 18,440 euros (income year 2026), no tax either. If you already work at least 4/5, this is a way for young people to earn some extra money.
A flexi-job is not limited to holiday periods: you can do flexi-jobs all year round. However, you must have worked at least 4/5 of a full-time position with one or more other employers in the third quarter before your flexi-job starts. A student or job seeker without that 4/5 does not meet the condition. Not sure whether you qualify? Check with your employer or social secretariat.
The big advantage? No employee social security contributions are deducted from your flexi wage and, up to the ceiling, no tax either. And you'll find them in sectors such as hospitality, retail, bakeries, chip shops and hairdressers. Since 1 July 2026, a flexi-job is possible in almost all sectors; whether it is possible for a given position depends on the rules of the sector. Your situation
Whether you're studying, just graduated or taking a gap year: without 4/5 employment in the third quarter before you start, you do not meet the condition. Here is what that means for your situation.
Without 4/5 employment you do not meet the condition for a flexi-job. As a student you may work 650 hours per year at reduced social contributions.
Waiting for your first permanent job? Then you do not yet meet the condition. Once you have a job of at least 4/5, a flexi-job is possible from the third quarter after that.
During a gap year you must also meet the 4/5 condition. A flexi-job also involves a contract: a framework agreement and a flexi-job contract.
