Yes, you can do a flexi-job while working part-time, as long as you worked at least 4/5th for one or more other employers in the third quarter before. On up to 18,440 euros of flexi-wage (income year 2026) you then pay no tax.
Please note: in the context of your main job, you must have been employed at least 4/5th of a full-time position in the third quarter before your flexi-job. If you work half-time, for example, you are not eligible, unless you are retired. Always check the official flexi-job conditions on the NSSO website.
A flexi-job is a flexible side job that lets you earn extra alongside your main job. Since 1 July 2026 this is possible in almost all sectors. The beauty: up to 18,440 euros (income year 2026) you pay no tax on your flexi-wage, and you pay no social contributions yourself. For those already working part-time (at least 4/5th), it is a way to build something extra.
To be eligible, you must have worked at least 4/5th for one or more other employers in the third quarter before your flexi-job, or be retired. You cannot take a flexi-job at the same company where you have a permanent job. In addition, you sign a written framework agreement with your employer (not needed through a staffing agency), and your employer must declare you in Dimona. View all conditions for a flexi-job.
Since 1 July 2026, a flexi-job is possible in almost all sectors, private and public. Not allowed are, among others, domestic staff, funeral directors, agriculture, horticulture and sea fishing, with some exceptions. In the cleaning sector (PC 121), unions and employers want to limit flexi-jobs to pensioners. Check what applies now. In 2026, sectors can still request an opt-out every quarter. Outside hospitality you receive at least the sector minimum wage for your job, while hospitality has its own minimum. On top of that you receive 7.67% flexi-holiday pay. Your employer pays an employer contribution of 28%, but it does not come out of your wage. Up to the ceiling of 18,440 euros (income year 2026), no withholding tax is deducted and your gross wage is equal to your net wage. Anything you earn above that is taxed. With a flexi-job you also build up social rights for unemployment, pension and holidays.
The legislation sets no maximum number of hours for a flexi-job. European working time rules do, however, prohibit working more than full-time. There is no minimum number of hours either: flexi-work is on demand, with no guarantee of hours. Your main job must meet the 4/5th standard, unless you are retired.
