From the rules to your first day at work: this is how you find your way to a flexi-job that suits you.
A flexi-job is an additional job as an employee. You must have worked at least 4/5 for one or more other employers in the third quarter before the flexi-job, or be retired. Since 1 July 2026, it has been possible in almost all sectors. Up to 18,440 euros of flexi-wage a year (income year 2026) you pay no tax; above that, the excess is taxed, and that ceiling does not apply to retirees.
With a flexi-job you work extra hours as an employee alongside your main job or your pension. The employer you do the flexi-job for concludes a separate flexi-job employment contract with you for this. On top of your flexi-wage you receive 7.67% flexi holiday pay.
However, there are rules. Not every sector allows flexi-jobs, and if you are not retired, you pay tax on what you earn above the annual ceiling. Moreover, your employer must conclude a framework agreement with you, unless you work through a temporary employment agency. Below we set out the main rules.
Suppose you have a permanent job of 32 or 38 hours, but you would like to earn some extra money. Then a flexi-job can be a smart move. You pay no employee contributions on your flexi-wage, and tax only above 18,440 euros a year (income year 2026). You do build up social security rights with it.

Not everyone can simply take on a flexi-job. In principle, you must meet one of these conditions:
If you are a student or jobseeker without that 4/5, you do not meet the condition.
Outside hospitality, as a flexi-jobber you receive at least the pay scale for your position, and at most 150% of the minimum sector wage. Hospitality has its own minimum and maximum. Your job adviser at Experza can tell you the pay for a specific vacancy.
