A flexi-job is different from a regular job, and you can see that in the contract. But don't panic: it's simpler than you think. Here we explain which types of contracts exist, whether you can get an indefinite duration contract and what the latest rules are.
With a flexi-job you always sign two documents. First a framework agreement: that's a framework contract in which you and your employer lay down the basic agreements, such as the wage, the position and the sector. Then for each employment period a separate employment contract follows with the concrete duration and hours.
A flexi-job is by definition flexible and therefore more temporary than a permanent contract. Yet with a framework agreement you can build a long-term relationship, you keep working flexibly, but with the same employer. A true indefinite duration contract as in ordinary labour law does not exist for flexi-jobs. But by signing new employment contracts each time, you can work for the same boss for years. The rules around flexi-jobs have been expanded in recent years. Since 2024, more sectors can deploy flexi-jobbers, and the wage ceilings are regularly adjusted. In 2026, the flexi-job conditions may be adjusted slightly, but the principle remains: simple extra income through a clear contract.
