Flexi-jobs are the ideal way for retirees to earn some extra money. You pay no social contributions, so what you earn is entirely yours. Moreover, you work flexibly: a few hours a week or an occasional job. And the best part: you don't have to deal with complicated administration.
Yes, but under certain conditions. You must be legally retired (or have taken early retirement after a career of at least 45 years). Also, you may not work as a flexi-jobber for an employer where you were employed in the last 5 years. This keeps it fair for everyone.
In 2025, the limit is €13,260 net per year. If you earn more, you fall back under the normal tax rules. From January 1, 2026, this amount will likely increase due to indexation, but there are also plans to raise the ceiling to €18,000 for certain groups. Keep an eye on our site for updates.
Note: you can earn unlimited extra income, but only the amount up to the limit is exempt from taxes and social contributions. Anything above that is taxed as ordinary income.
As a flexi-jobber, you pay no social security contributions and no withholding tax. The employer pays a special flexi compensation of 25% on top of your wage. You therefore receive the full agreed amount in your account. No hassle with tax letters afterwards.
