Will I be paid if I'm sick during my flexi-job?

A flexi-job is a regular employment contract: if you get sick during an ongoing contract, the normal rules on sick leave and guaranteed pay apply for the scheduled shifts. If you work with separate daily contracts, there is no pay outside scheduled shifts.

Can my flexi-employer refuse me because I was previously sick?

An employer is free to decide who they book for new shifts, but may not discriminate against you for health reasons. Cancelling once due to illness does not in practice break a collaboration.

Does illness in my main job count towards the 4/5 condition?

The 4/5 condition is assessed in the reference quarter (three quarters earlier); equivalent periods such as illness generally count towards it. So you don't need to panic if you were sick for a while.

Most flexi-jobbers work with short or daily contracts within a framework agreement. Here's how to handle illness:

Sick before a scheduled shift: notify as soon as possible, at least before the start time. This allows the business to find a replacement and keeps the relationship good.
Sick during a shift: report it to your supervisor; you are simply paid for the hours worked.
Longer illness: your sickness benefit through the health insurance fund is arranged via your main job. Your flexi-income temporarily stops; there are then no obligations towards your flexi-employer beyond the already signed contracts.
