What is a flexi-job?

A flexi-job is a side job for those who already work at least 4/5 or are retired, where you receive a net wage without paying taxes or social contributions. You can earn up to 12,000 euros per year in sectors such as hospitality, care or retail.

<p>Flexi-jobs have existed since 2015 and are intended to earn extra money without affecting your main income. You pay no social security or taxes, but your employer does pay a limited contribution. It is therefore an advantageous way for both you and the boss to arrange flexible work, close to home.</p>

How exactly does a flexi-job work? An overview

A flexi-job is a smart system to earn something extra alongside your main activity. No complicated paperwork, because the employer arranges the Dimona declaration. You work, and at the end of the month you get net wages in your account. But there are clear rules, and we explain them crystal clear here.

Who can do a flexi-job?

Not everyone can just start a flexi-job. You are eligible if:

You work at least 4/5 for one or more employers. That means at least 80% of a full-time schedule.
You are retired, but then you may not have worked for that employer in the last three quarters before your retirement.

What are the conditions in 2026?

The rules change a little every year. From 2026, these important figures apply:

You may earn a maximum of 12,000 euros gross per year with flexi-jobs. That is the amount before deduction of the employer contribution, but for you it remains net.
The legal maximum hourly wage is 17.03 euros (2025 amount, indexation follows).
The employer pays a special social security contribution of 28% on your wage, keeping the system affordable for them.
